Elmyra #1 marks the beginning of Smrita Jain’s return to figurative painting and the first piece in her Elmyra the Grey Cat Collection. Created in acrylic on watercolor paper, the painting captures Elmyra with expressive yellow-green eyes, a textured grey coat, and a bold cobalt-blue background.

The work is deeply personal. In April 2021, after receiving her green card, Smrita decided to give a shelter cat a home. That was when Elmyra and Smrita saw each other for the first time, and Elmyra chose Smrita as her forever family.

This piece is part of the artist’s private collection and is not available for sale.
